Thomas L. Black

AGE: 68 • Clinton

Thomas L. Black, 68, entered eternal life peacefully at home on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013. Son of the late Louis and Eleanor Black, Thomas was born in Staten Island, NY and lived in South Bound Brook for many years before moving to Clinton in 2011. He was a 1962 Honor Society Graduate of St. Peter's H.S. in Staten Island and he graduated in 1966 with a BA in Accounting from Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY. Thomas worked for the NJ Department of Transportation "Right of Way Division," as a supervisor retiring in 2008. He was a Communicant and Usher at Our Lady of Mercy Church in South Bound Brook for over 30 years; coached, managed and was past president of the South Bound Brook- Somerset Little League; was an avid NY Yankee's fan, loved being with his family, bowling, golf and watching sunrises in the Outer Banks.

He is predeceased by his son, James L. Black in 2010. Thomas leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Adele (Trautman) Black of Clinton; son, Thomas H. Black and wife Susan of Slate Hill, NY; daughters, Linda A. Tronolone and husband Robert of Clinton, Laura L. Lumbatis and husband Ryan of Gilbertsville, PA; 7 grandchildren, Janine, Brittany, Kelly, Samantha, Jaclyn, James and Lillian; siblings, Robert Black of NY, Peter Black of NY, Eloise Watson of NY, Susan Duval of NY, Joan Willadsen of NY, Louis Black of NY, Jean Guidera of NY and Matthew Black of FL; godson, Chris Trautman and many nieces, nephews and godchildren.

Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. Funeral services will begin with prayers, 8 am at the funeral home on Monday, October 7, 2013 followed by a 9 am Mass at Our Lady of Mercy Church in South Bound Brook. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in East Millstone. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

I wish to extend my sympathy to the Black family. "Uncle" Tommy was a great man. Whenever I went to Aunt Peg & Uncle Bob's house with both sides of the family visiting, he treating me like one the family. I hope the next few weeks you find comfort in some of the good times to help heal the heart ache. With much love & respect Roy

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
