WALTER B. STIGLITZ JR.
AGE: 71 NORTH PLAINFIELD
Walter B. Stiglitz, Jr., 71, a native of North Plainfield, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at his home in North Plainfield.
Walter, better known as "Tattoo Stiggy," owned his own tattoo parlor in North Plainfield before retiring in 2006. A legend in the world of tattoos and tattoo art, he had 5,555 tattoos, earning him a record in the Guinness Book of World Records for 14 years. He was a longtime member of the Plainfield Fraternal Order of Eagles and had served as president. He was also an avid collector of antiques and memorabilia.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Tubino Stiglitz; three sons, David, Robert and Frank; two daughters, Jackie Devaney and Tina Neoushoff; his sister, Jean Dzurilla; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Estelle; two sisters, Emma Celletto and Betty Bunce; and his son, Walter, who died in 2003.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at the Church of the Holy Cross, at the corner of Washington and Mercer in North Plainfield. Cremation will be at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, at Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Ave., Fanwood.
