Andrew Joseph Griesler

AGE: 78 • North Brunswick

Andrew Joseph Griesler, 78, of North Brunswick, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2013. He was born to the late Andrew and Mary (Kucharczyk) Griesler, July 17, 1935 in Somerset. Andrew graduated from St. Peters High School in New Brunswick in 1953 and attended Rutgers University before joining the Army. While serving in Germany he met his wife Deanna Griesler, who passed away in 2004 after 48 years of marriage. He has resided in North Brunswick for the last 47 years. Andrew was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #825 and spent most of his career working for Epic Construction of Piscataway until his retirement. He loved boating, fishing, and attending car shows with his best friend the late Pat Padden. He will be remembered and possibly feared as "Big Andy" by the neighborhood kids and as the handyman who could fix anything by their parents. You knew he liked you if he gave you a nickname. He always loved his dogs, especially Maxi and Shiki.

Andrew is survived by three children, Joseph Griesler, of North Brunswick, Andrea Mason and husband Glenn of Roswell, Georgia, and Lori Norman and husband Dean, of Stewartstown, PA. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Ashley, Drew and Gavin Mason; his brother, George Griesler, 1 nephew and 4 nieces.

Services will begin on Monday at 9:15 AM at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street in Somerset followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass at Our Lady of Peace Church in North Brunswick. Interment will follow at St. Peter Cemetery in New Brunswick. Friends and family may visit from 2-4 and 7-9 on Sunday at the funeral home.
