Andrew P. Stofa, 74, of Metuchen, died on Monday, April 22, 2013 at RWJ University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born in New York City, he moved to Metuchen in 1940. He graduated from Metuchen High School and from Rutgers University as a Chemistry major, and was honored with induction into the Old Guard of Rutgers in 2010. Andrew worked at Givaudan Roure Corp. in Clifton for 25 years, where he was Occupational Health and Safety Manager and also served as Chief of the Fire Brigade. He was a Certified Industrial Hygienist and a member of the NJ Section of the American Industrial Hygiene Association. He volunteered as a coach with the Metuchen Little League and the Metuchen-Edison Soccer Club.
He was predeceased by two brothers, John and Michael, and two sisters, Mary Stofa and Anna Mihovch.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Janet (Hudak); a daughter, Stefeny Krombholz and her husband, the Rev. James; a son, A. Paul and his wife Jaime, all of Metuchen; a sister, Elizabeth Thomas of California; and three grandchildren, Jakob, Luke and Madalyn.
Visitation is Thursday from 4-8 at the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home 568 Middlesex Ave. (RT 27) Metuchen. Services will be held on Friday 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church 445 Old Post Rd, Edison. Interment is at Hillside Cemetery in Metuchen. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to National Down Syndrome Society (http://www.ndss.org/) or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (jdrf.org).
