Barbara Lloyd Gove, 88, died Friday, December 7, 2012, at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born January 2, 1924, in Bound Brook, she was the daughter of Hubert and Elsie Pew Lloyd. She graduated from Bound Brook High School, Class of 1942, and was a lifelong borough resident. Mrs. Gove worked for over 40 years as a bookkeeper and assistant at Hayden's Flowers, Bound Brook. She was an avid knitter, knitting prayer shawls for the Presbyterian Church, Bound Brook, where she was a longtime member, and helmet liners for those in the service in Afghanistan. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. She was an avid reader. She loved playing rummy and bridge card games. She enjoyed trips to the New Jersey shore.
Mrs. Gove was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence A. Gove, Sr., who died in 1990. She is survived by her daughter, Martha G. (David) Costain of Bridgewater; her sons, Thomas E. (Cathy) Gove of Warren, Lawrence A. (Kim) Gove, Jr., of South Bound Brook; six grandchildren, and her four beloved great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 11, at the Presbyterian Church, Bound Brook. Interment will follow at Bound Brook Cemetery. Friends will be received 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. Monday at Hagan - Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Ave., Bound Brook. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Red Cross Hurricane Sandy Victims Fund or the Presbyterian Church, Bound Brook.
