Bernice M. Chaplar, 87, of Fords, passed peacefully on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at the Haven Hospice Pavillion at JFK Medical Center in Edison. She was born in Fords, and formerly of Whitehouse Station, before moving back to Fords in 1995. A member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fords and the Mt. Zion Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Metuchen, Bernice had been a quality control inspector for over 20 years with New Departure Hyatt Roller Bearing in Clark, before retiring in 1980.
She is predeceased by her husband, Charles Leopold Chaplar, Sr. who died in May of 1993. She leaves behind her daughter, Bonnie Ann Peterson and her husband Harry of Fords, and her 2 sons, Charles L. Chaplar, Jr. and his wife, Catherine of Whitehouse Station and Steven W. Chaplar and his wife, Gioconda of Stroudsburg, PA; her 9 grandchildren, Vincent Ceglia (and wife, Tracy), Scott Ceglia (and wife, Jennifer), Matthew Ceglia (and wife, Melissa), David Peterson, Christie Milchak (and husband, Jason), Charles L. Chaplar, III (and fiance, Gisela Marisio), Brian J. Chaplar, Tatiana Chaplar (and fiance, Christopher Cioni) and Steven Chaplar, and her 8 great grandchildren, Vinny, Amanda, Andrew, Olivia, Payton, Marlee, Hendrix, and Eric; her brother, William J. Walters of South Amboy and her sister, Jeannette Di Sciullo of Whiting.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. from the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863. Followed by a 10 a.m. service at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fords. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Metuchen. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday, July 12, 2012, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Contributions may be made in her memory to either the Haven Hospice Unit at JFK Medical Center in Edison, or Our Redeemer Lutheran Church Memorial Fund in Fords.
