Bruce Alan Conway, 70, died Friday, October 26, 2012 at the Cooper Hospital-Univ. Medical Center, Camden where he entered his new and eternal life after a long term illness. He was born October 15, 1942 in Plainfield to Russell T. and Meta Bjorkland Conway. He was raised in South Plainfield where he had resided most of his life. He had last resided in Cherry Hill for several years. Bruce had worked in banking as an administrative assistant at the First National Bank of Central Jersey (now Bank of America) and the Somerset Savings Bank, both in Bound Brook for many years. He had also worked at the Union County Arts Center in Rahway and the Northlandz Museum in Flemington. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Piscataway where he sang in the choir and played the organ for special occasions. He had previously been a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in North Plainfield where he served as organist and youth group leader. Bruce was a 1960 graduate of South Plainfield High School.
Bruce has no immediate relatives. His friend Randy Kowalik has served as coordinator of his affairs. He was predeceased by two feline companions, Rusty and Toby Tyler.
A service will be held at The Mundy Funeral Home, 142 Dunellen Avenue, Dunellen on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 8:00 P.M. Private interment will be held at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Friends may visit the funeral home on Friday from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Donations in Bruce's memory may be made to the Covenant House, 460 West 41st St., New York, NY 10036.
