Charles Belmonte

AGE: 87 • Somerset

Charles Belmonte, 87, entered eternal life on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at his residence. Born in Long Island, NY, son of the late Charles and Olga (Polochi) Belmonte, he resided in Manville for 10 years before settling to the Somerset section of Franklin Township in 1961. Charles was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps after faithfully serving his country as a private 1st class during WW II having been wounded during battle. He retired as a maintenance mechanic from Eastern Steel Barrel Corporation in Piscataway after many years of dedicated employment, was a communicant of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough and a member of Thomas J. Kavanaugh Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2290 in Manville. Charles' motto was "family first" and he cherished every moment spent with his family as they always came first. He also had a passion for fishing and boating.

Besides his parents, Charles was predeceased by his beloved wife Mary (Futchko) Belmonte, on August 16, 2008, the day on which they had been celebrating their 61st wedding anniversary and by his four sisters and five brothers. Charles leaves behind his loving children, daughter and son-in-law Mary Ann and Michael A. Lomastro of the Bradley Gardens section of Bridgewater, son and daughter-in-law Charles and Eleanor Belmonte of Spring Hill, FL and his dear sister Elaine Thompsen of Long Island, NY. He will be deeply missed by his four adored grandchildren and five cherished great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Tuesday, March 15 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with the Parastas service beginning at 3 p.m. and on Wednesday, March 16 from 10-11 a.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 16 beginning with an 11:00 a.m. Panachida service at the funeral home.
