AGE: 87 FREEHOLD TWP.
Charles E. Blatchley, 87, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mr. Blatchley was a life-long resident of Freehold Township. He was a former Manager of Production for Worthington Biochemical Corp. in Freehold and Lakewood for over 45 years. He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran serving as a Bombardier with the 8th Air Force, 44th Bomb Group in Europe. He flew 35 combat missions and received 3 Air Medals and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Mr. Blatchley served as the Mayor of Freehold Township from 1967 to 1968 and was a former Township Committee member. He also served on the Freehold Township Board of Education and the Freehold Township Planning Board.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Leigh, in 1981 and two sisters Doris Tapper and Marion Alexander. Mr. Blatchley is survived by his wife of 61 ½ years, Dorothy, of Freehold Township; a son, Brian Blatchley and his wife, Shirley, of Oceanport; two grandchildren, Jennifer Corboy, and her husband, Daniel, of Middletown and Jeffrey Pace, and his wife, Natasha, of North Port, FL; four great grandchildren, Calvin and Naomi Corboy, Samantha and Alexander Pace; a brother, Robert Blatchley of Freehold and two sisters, Mildred Kring of Freehold and Carol Lani of Haines City, FL.
Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, October 10, 2010, from 12 noon to 4:00 PM. Friends and relatives are invited to attend his funeral service at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 11, 2010, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold, NJ. For those who desire memorial contributions in memory of Charles may be made to Deborah Healthcare Foundation, NJ Region, P.O. Box 820, Browns Mills, NJ 08015.
