Daniel E. Robinson

AGE: 87 • Metuchen

Daniel E. Robinson 87, of Metuchen passed away Jan. 9, 2013 at St. Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Philadelphia, he resided in Metuchen since 1957. He served in the Montford Point Marines during WWII, for which he was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal of Honor in 2012, the highest civilian honor bestowed by Congress for distinguished achievement. He received his BS from Howard University and his MS from Polytechnic Institute of NYU in Brooklyn. Daniel was an Electrical Engineer. He did Seminal research in the area of fields and waves. He enjoyed a storied career in electrical engineering research.

Mr. Robinson was a senior member of IEEE, member of Alpha Phi Alpha, The Rotary Club, Non-Jer Men, Board member of the Metuchen-Edison YMCA and Board Member of the YMCA Camp Mason and assistant Scout Master of Troop 74. He was also Chairman of the Board at WNJR in Newark and Chairman and founder of SEICO. He is predeceased by his wife Ruth Ann Robinson (d.2005). Surviving are his children Anstella D. Robinson of Palo Alto, CA; Daniel M. Robinson, IV of Montgomery Village, MD and Angela D. Robinson of White Bear Lake, MN; siblings Clifford Robinson, Durald Steele, Marva Cook, Alberteen Lockett, and Leola Bell. Visitation is Friday 2-4pm and 7-9pm and Saturday from 10am-12noon at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave. (Rt.27) Metuchen (www.costello-runyon.com).

The Funeral service will take place following the morning visitation at 12:30pm at the Reformed Church of Metuchen, 150 Lake Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Metuchen/Edison YMCA or the Metuchen Rotary Club.
