Deacon Douglas L. Brister, passed March 22, 2013 at the Norwood Terr./Robert Wood Johnson Health Care facility in Plainfield. Born in Quitman, GA, he has been a resident of Plainfield for 50 yrs. Mr. Brister was employed at Verizon of S. Plainfield as a security guard, he worked at National Starch in Plainfield for 20 yrs. A member of Ruth Fellowship Ministries in Plainfield, he served as a deacon, formerly of The Community Baptist Church of North Plainfield, and the Rose of Sharon Community Church of Plainfield. In addition he served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

Predeceased by his daughter Gloria Cobbs, he is survived by his wife of 12yrs Romona, sons Douglas, John, Jerome, Ronald and Murray Brister, step sons Robert Mills, Anthony Bryant(Shirl), Samuel Woods, daughters Mary Louise Brister and Brendalin Cobbs, Step daughters Linda Langford, Brenda Cobbs and Vera Bryant, sisters Frances Denson, Rachel Tate, Lenore Shackleford, Irma Bryant, special niece Sharon Minor Peele, and a host of loving grandchildren relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held Thursday 10 AM at the Ruth Fellowship Ministries 730 South 2nd St Plainfield. Visitation will be 9-10 Am Thursday at the church. Arrangements by Judkins. www.judkinscolonialhome.com
