Derrick Fitzgerald Walker of Eatonton, Ga. passed peacefully into the Arms of The Lord on April 17, 2013, after a brief illness. He was 48. Born in New Jersey, Derrick lived most of his life in South River and New Brunswick before moving to Eatonton in 2012.
He was a graduate of South River High School. In his Senior year, Derrick became the first male to join the Color Guard. Quite the busy young man throughout his high school years, he was also in Marching band, chorus and on the wrestling team. During those years he was also on the soccer and football teams.
He was a four year veteran of the U.S. Navy and travelled to many Countries. Derrick loved a good game of chess and enjoyed boxing. He was employed for many years at Hercules Chemical Plant in Sayreville. He was also employed for a number of years by Michaelson's Auto Glass Co. of South River. He was a graduate of The Chubb Institute of North Brunswick and received a Certification in Medical Billing. He was predeceased by two sisters, Diane Lenore and Denise Leslie, and by his brother Michael Frederick. Surviving are his parents, Willie Fred Walker and Lizzie Lee Walker of Eatonton. His two loving children, daughter Sadasia and son Deaven of Eatonton. Two sisters, Tabitha Walker of New Brunswick and Evelyne D. Walker of Eatonton. Two grandchildren, Ja'Drian and A'zhiya Oliver of Eatonton. Five aunts and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and his very special and dear friend, Ms. Leisa Bryant of New Jersey.
Funeral Services were held on April 22, 2013 at Bernard's Family Funeral Care in Eatonton. The Rev. Gregory Ellison officiated.
