Donald Nichols Obituary
AGE: 90 • Plainfield
Rev. Donald D. Nichols, Sr. 90, entered eternal life Sun. May 18, 2014 at home. Born in Plainfield, he was a lifelong resident. Rev. Nichols was the pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Plainfield for 37 years. Prior to that he was a self-employed carpenter/painter and owner of Nichol's Convenience Store in Plainfield.
He was predeceased by his sister Irma Stephens, brother Rev. Norman Nichols, Sr. and stepfather Silas Mathis. Surviving are his wife Carrie Nichols; two sons Donald D. Nichols, Jr. and Michael Nichols (Teresa); two daughters Karen Trammell (Madison Dale Trammell) and Lauri Williamson; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren , other relatives, friends and his church family.
Viewing Fri. from 3-9pm with a celebration of life service at 7pm and Sat. 8-9am in Mount Olive Baptist Church, 216 Liberty St., Plainfield. Funeral Sat. 9am in the church. Interment, Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Arrangements by Brown's Funeral Home.www.brownsfuneralhome.net.

To the entire Nichols Family: It's difficult to move on when you know that your loved one has gone out of your reach, leaving this mortal world behind. Pastor has left us all many memories that will bring forth a smile and conquer the painful tears. Although it is difficult today, looking beyond the sorrow in memory will comfort you tomorrow. My heartfelt and deepest sympathy goes out to the family and friends of Rev. Nichols. I lived in Plainfield for 30+ years and have very fond memories of attending Services at Mt. Olive. Rev. Nichols allowed me to get married there, and even though my pastor (the late Rev. Everett C. Lattimore) performed the ceremony, Rev. Nichols was right there in case we needed anything! He's gone from this earthly realm, but he's not forgotten.
So long to a very sweet and kind man of God.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to Mrs. Nichols, the entire Nichols family, and of course the Mt. Olive Family as you cope with the finality of Rev. Nichols' transition to glory. Of course earth's loss is heaven's gain, nevertheless, that does not nullify the fact his existence in the earthly realm has ceased. There will not be a day that you do not think of him, we're sure. May God grant you tidings of comfort and joy in the midst of your bereavement period. Let marvelous memories buoy you up and bolster your spirits as you reflect on the goodness of the Lord to have given dear Rev. Nichols to all of us as part of God's master plan.
