AGE: 93 • Cranbury

Edwin T. Conover, 93, of Cranbury, passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 27, 2014, at the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro with his wife at his side. Born in Red Bank, Mr. Conover was a graduate of Rumson Fair Haven School, Class of 1938.

One of his long time pleasures was his early morning visit to Teddy's for coffee and his papers where they called him "Mr. Ed". An honorably discharged US Navy Veteran of World War II, he served in the Navy Seabees in the South Pacific from 1942 to 1945. After the war, he was employed with Orchardside Farms of Cranbury for over for 20 years and retired as Foreman.

Mr. Conover was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dayton and an Ancestral member of the Van Kouwenhoven-Conover Family Association. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #1000, the Seabees Veterans of America Island X 24th Battalion at Large and the Golden Age Neighbors of Cranbury. Mr. Conover also enjoyed gardening and fishing. Predeceased by his parents, Edwin and Dorothy (Reckless) Conover and his son, Leon Edwin Conover; he is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth (Heuer) Conover; his daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Eddie Sigle of Key Largo, FL; his granddaughter, Holly Dillon and her husband, Mark; his great-grandson, Samuel H. Dillon; his brother-in-law, Malcolm Bahrenburg; his nephews, Christopher and Andrew Heuer and Thomas and Dick Pieper and his niece, Kathy Melanson.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 11:30 am at A.S. Cole Son & Co., 22 North Main Street, Cranbury, NJ. Interment will follow at Brainerd Cemetery, Cranbury, NJ. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 10:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.
