ELEANOR PERRY ATTAWAY
AGE: 87 PISCATAWAY
Eleanor Perry Attaway, 87, died Mon. Dec. 6, 2010 at St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick. She was born in Plainfield where she lived for many years before living in Edison for 5 years and most recently Piscataway. She was a 1941 graduate of Plainfield high School and a 1948 graduate of Wilberforce University in Xenia, OH where she received her B. A. Degree in Liberal Arts and Social Science. She furthered her studies by taking graduate courses at Kean University and Rutgers University. She devoted her life to education and taught at the following schools: King's Daughters Day School, The Neighborhood House and The Jewish Community Center all in Plainfield, and the Presbyterian Day Nursery in Fanwood. She taught for 5 years in the Edison public school system and 25 years in the Plainfield school system primarily at Stillman School. She was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church in Plainfield. Her other memberships include the following: The Plainfield Branch of the National Association of College Women which is now the Plainfield Branch of University Women, The Plainfield Education Assoc., The National Education Assoc., The Second Saturday Bridge Club and the local Pinochle Club.
Surviving are her son Allen H. Attaway, III of Piscataway; a granddaughter Lauren Jade Attaway of Chicago, Ill.; a sister Carolyn Britton of Scotch Plains; 7 nephews; 4 nieces and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Tues. 12noon in Calvary Baptist Church, 324 Monroe Ave., Plainfield preceded by viewing at 11am. Interment, Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Arrangements by Brown's Funeral Home, Plainfield. Condolences may be expressed at brownsfuneralhome.net.

A very nice lady. I remember her from the JCC and my growing up years. I also remember her sister who was my favorite elementary teacher (2nd grade at Yeshiva). Condolences to you and your family.

Dear Kitty and all of Eleanor's Loved onesI have such vivid memories of Eleanor--always up and smiling and encouraging and patient! with kids and adults! thru many tough times ! We go way back to JCC to Plainfield classrooms to P E A--maybe 45 years!! strong hugs - a blessing for a sister and friend

Henry and Kitty,
