ELLIOT WEINSTEIN
AGE: 66
FORMERLY OF PLAINFIELD
Elliot Weinstein, 66, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, at his home in Warren. He was born and raised in Brooklyn and had lived in Plainfield before moving to Warren 20 years ago. Mr. Weinstein received his Bachelor's Degree in Community Planning from the University of Cincinnati in 1966 and his Master's Degree in Public Administration from NYU in 1968. He was the Planning Director for the City of Plainfield from 1969 to 1984 and a Planning, Zoning and Traffic Consultant from 1984 until 1994. From 1984 until his retirement in 2001, he was involved in Real Estate Ownership and Management. Mr. Weinstein was appointed a member of the New Jersey State Board of Professional Planners in 1981. He was a member of Temple Sholom and served on the Temple Board of Trustees from 1991 to 1995. He received the Temple Sholom Achievement Award in 1992. Mr. Weinstein enjoyed woodworking, photography and stamp collecting. During his retirement, he started playing golf and taking classes at Raritan Valley Community College. He also belonged to a poker group at Temple Sholom for 25 years.
He is predeceased by his brother, Sheldon Weinstein; and his sister, Roslyn Leese. Surviving are his wife, Janet R. Faust Weinstein; his daughters, Allison Beth Weinstein of Manhattan and Jennifer Faust Weinstein of Oakland, CA and many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 10th at 10:00 a.m at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, followed by entombment at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, Basking Ridge. Elliot was indeed a very nice person. We worked together at City Hall in Plainfield and he was always kind and willing to help everyone. I am privileged to have know him. To his family I am very sorry for your loss. He was a real gem. Tracy Bennett

Elliot was a great neighbor & friend in Plainfield. I have many wonderful memories of those days & of Elliot's sense of humor. He always kept us laughing. He will be missed; but memories of him will live on.
