Fay Terrase passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. She was 87 years old. Mrs. Terrase was born in Brooklyn and moved to the Somerset area in 1949, where she has since resided. She was employed in the packaging department of John Wiley and Sons Publishing in Somerset before retiring in 1990. Mrs. Terrase was a founding member of St. Matthias Church in Somerset and a member of the Franklin Township Seniors. The joy she found in cooking was always reflected in her wonderful Sunday family dinners. She also enjoyed gardening and sewing.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Ralph Terrase in 2002. She was also pre-deceased by her brothers, John and Peter Cataldo, and sisters, Angela Rose and Rose Angela Cataldo. Mrs. Terrase is survived by her daughters, Josephine Terrase-Cohen and her husband David of Somerset and Roseann Bacorn and her husband Arthur also of Somerset. She is also survived by a sister, Rose DeCovolo and her husband Rocco of Ventura, Ca., formerly of Somerset; her 4 grandchildren, Nicole and Michael Wlodkowski, Kelly Garuccio and Tina Bacorn and 1 great grandchild, Gianna Garuccio.
Funeral services will begin on Monday at 10 AM at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street in Somerset followed by a 10:30 AM Mass at St. Matthias Church in Somerset. Subsequent interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway. Friends and family may call from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
