Florence M. Sullivan
After a valiant fight with Alzheimer's Disease, Florence M. Sullivan of Brick Twp. and formerly of Ringwood, passed peacefully at home in the loving care of her husband and children on Tuesday, May 14, 2013. Florence was born in Queens, NY on July 16, 1934 to her parents, Patsy and Rose Guadagno Caldera. She had been a resident of Ringwood for 35 years before moving to Brick 4 years ago. Florence was employed as the Accounts Payable Supervisor for the Ringwood Borough Hall for 25 years before retiring in 2008. She was revered by all as a Diligent Protector of the taxpayers' money through her services there. Always a committed Mom, she was a dynamic Class Mother, CYO cheerleading coach and Girl Scout Troop Leader in Ringwood. She was an active parishioner at St. Catherine's of Bologna, Ringwood, and served in various capacities including president of the Rosary Society, Eucharistic Minister and secretary in the CCD program. She will be remembered for her feisty personality and sweet loving nature. Since retiring to Brick Twp. in 2008, she has been a communicant of St. Martha's R.C. Church, Point Pleasant.
Florence was predeceased by her parents, first husband, Donald Collins; and brother-in-law, Ernest Parmel. She is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Mortimer "Mort" J. Sullivan; her beloved children and their spouses, Patrick J. Collins and wife Jackie Friedman-Collins of Little Falls, Deborah Van Deventer and husband Dennis of Holly Hill, SC, and Colleen Sullivan Palus and husband John of Belmar; her dear siblings, Joseph Caldera and wife Marie of Dumont, and Mary Parmel of Long Island City, NY; and her cherished grandchildren, Sarah, Daniel, David and Grace.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 19 at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2013 at the Church of St. Martha, 3800 Herbertsville Rd., Point Pleasant, NJ 08742. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle.
