Frederick Keesing Obituary

FREDERICK KEESING
AGE: 97 CLINTON TWP.
Frederick Keesing died on Friday August 20, 2010 at the Country Arch Care Center in Pittstown, NJ. Fred was born on January 26, 1913 in New York City. He lived through the Depression and many wars, serving as Staff Sergeant in the 216th Field Artillery ("assisting" General George Patton) during World War II. He worked a variety of jobs from running a Nedick's stand in Times Square to selling his own brand of Keesing Coffee and Tea, to being Photo Editor of the Plainfield Courier News. He photographed Presidents including John F. Kennedy, Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon and many celebrities from Malcolm Forbes to Judy Garland. Fred founded and was the first president of the Clinton Township Seniors' Club and served as liaison for the Township at the Division of Senior Services. For the last 25 years, Fred was founder, editor and publisher of the Clinton Township Newsletter.
He was predeceased by a son, Fred Jr.; and a brother, Walter J. He leaves his wife of 39 years, Ruth (Braunsdorf) Keesing; two children, Karen and her husband Carl Jeronimo, and John Drew Keesing; one sister, Rosemary Dougal; nine grandchildren; one great grandson; 2 step-children, Sally and her husband James Deak, and Steven and his wife Anne Fletcher Gilbert.
You may pay your respects at the Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ on Saturday August 28 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM. Funeral Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to hospice: Care Alternatives, 70 Jackson Drive, Suite 200, Cranford, NJ 07016.
