George Marx, Jr.

AGE: 86 • Ocean Gate

George Marx, Jr., 86 of Ocean Gate died on December 2, 2012. Born in Newark he has resided in Ocean Gate for the past 33 years. Mr. Marx was employed as custodian of Wall Township Schools for many years before retiring. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II aboard the Destroyer Escort ship, U.S.S. Gandy #764. Their ship rammed and sank a German U-550 Boat in the North Atlantic, East of New York in 1944. George is predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Ruth (Hurden) Marx in 2009. Surviving are his siblings, James Marx of Keansburg and Edna Marx Quick of Keyport; three nephews and a niece, Allen Atheras of Brick, Rick Atheras of Palm Beach Gardens Florida, Jim Marx of Keansburg and Jeanie Stiesi of Port Monmouth. George was a familiar friendly face for many years on the east end of boardwalk in Ocean Gate and he will be greatly missed. Funeral Services are private with the family under the direction of Mastapeter Funeral Home, Bayville.
