Georgette Polos Obituary
Georgette Polos

AGE: 61 • Highland Park

Georgette Polos of Highland Park, N.J., passed away on Thursday May 16, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was 61 years old.

Georgette was born in Manhattan New York before the family established roots in New Brunswick and then Highland Park New Jersey where she lived most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Nicolette and George Polos.

Georgette was a long time Middlesex County employee of the County Counsel's office. Before her employment with the county, she was employed by the State of New Jersey and was assigned to the Superior Court system. Prior to entering the public sector Georgette had a long and successful private sector career handling operations for Polygram Records prior to joining the Van Heusen Corporation. She is a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Piscataway and a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in New York. Georgette was very committed to her faith and her Greek Orthodox beliefs and traditions.

Her passion for dance, music and the arts was evidenced in her service as a former member of the Highland Park Arts Commission. She believed that music and the arts are the heart and soul of a community and she committed her time to that belief. She was a very talented Greek dancer and singer who would often be asked to perform at ethnic events in the New York Metropolitan area.

She is survived by her loving brothers, Dr. Peter Polos and his wife Erin and Freeholder James Polos and his wife Rita. She is also survived by her six beautiful and loving nieces, whom she found immense joy in seeing grow and prosper, Nicolette, Olivia, Katherine, Angela, Sophia and Ava and many cousins. Georgette was a very kind and gentle person. She was enormously unselfish and a loving person grounded by her Orthodox beliefs and values and her commitment to her family. She will truly be missed by us all. May God bless her.

Viewing will be on Tuesday, May 21, from 4-8 pm at Selover Funeral Home 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick, NJ 08902.
