Gerald D. Wheeler (known affectionately as "Buster" by close friends and family), 80, died on November 1, 2013 at his home in Middletown, NJ. He was born in Arrat, PA and lived in Deposit, NY where he met his loving wife Arline and moved his family of five children to Middletown, NJ in 1965. Gerry worked as a highly respected machinist for Amerex Corporation in S. Plainfield, NJ for over 30 years and retired as general foreman in 2002. He was a communicant of St Mary's New Monmouth.
Buster's love of music was continuous throughout his life by playing his guitar and singing with all his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed cooking and especially family gatherings with all the kids playing and enjoying the pool in the summer.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Arline Frazier Wheeler, of New Monmouth, NJ. son & daughter-in-law - Gary and Terri Wheeler of Livingston, MT; daughter & son-in-law - Lynda Kavanagh and Chris Danish of Middletown; 2 sisters - Joann (John) Warner of Gilford, NY, and Shirley Kelsey of W. Windsor, NY; 11 grandchildren - Todd, Dana, Adam, Casey, Amber, Gary, Michelle, John, Kyle, Jamie, and Justin;7 great grandchildren - Christian, Mackenzie, Andrew, Autumn, Makayla, Nathan and Evelynn Mae.
Gerald was preceded in death by his 3 sons, Timothy F. Wheeler,(1998), Wayne E. Wheeler,(2001), William J Wheeler (2007), brother Donley Wheeler, and sister Arlyn Cronan.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 04, 2013 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday at 9:15am at the funeral home. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Chapel, 26 Leonardville Rd., Middletown. Burial will follow at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
