John "Jack" Bennett, 81, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at his home. Jack was born in New York City, NY, settling in Jackson Twp. 50 years ago. Jack was an engineer with the Ocean County Utility Authority in Bayville, NJ, before retiring. In addition, Jack was a communicant of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church in Jackson Twp., and a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War where he received the Occupation Medal for Japan, Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation, the Good Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. Jack was proud of his family, his military service and his contribution to the building of the new Church of St. Aloysius.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, John E. and Muriel Bennett. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Doris Bennett; his daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and David Batko of Bradley Beach, NJ; his son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Katharine Bennett of Manahawkin, NJ; and by his 2 grandsons, Austin and Sean Bennett.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation on Monday, May 20, 2013, from 4-8 PM at THE GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ 08527. A funeral gathering will be offered on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at 8:30 AM at the funeral home. His Funeral Liturgy will follow at 9:30 AM at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson Twp., NJ. Interment with military honors will follow in The Brig. Gen. William C.
