John Carpentieri, of Whiting, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at home. He was 85. Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Highland Park and North Brunswick, before moving to Whiting over 20 years ago. He was a bimetallic cylinder salesman for Johns-Manville, Xaloy Inc., and most recently for Bimex. Mr. Carpentieri served in the National Guard during the 1950's. He was a 1950 graduate of Seton Hall University. He was a former member of the Elks in Bound Brook and the Lions Club of New Brunswick. He volunteered for the Ocean Co. Mentor Program and he had coached the St. Mary's Basketball Team in New Brunswick. He was a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Virgin RC Church in New Brunswick.
He's predeceased by his wife, Josephine (Weber) Carpentieri (d. 2004), and his late grandsons, Brian Crowley Jr. (d. 1998) and Patrick James Ryan (d. 2009). Surviving are his daughters, Bonnie Crowley of Plainfield and Lois Ann Carpentieri of New Brunswick; and his grandsons, Michael Ryan, Shane Carpentieri, Ricky Pena, and Kenny Carpentieri; and his great granddaughter, Kyleigh.
A Mass will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2013, 9:30 am, at St. Mary of Mt Virgin RC Church in New Brunswick. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
