John E. Mohr, 74, of Point Pleasant, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at Jefferson University Hospital, in Philadelphia. Born in Lakewood to the late Conrad John and Leona Mohr, he spent most of his life there, moving to Point Pleasant in 1993. Mr. Mohr worked for many years as a Lineman for Jersey Central Power & Light in Lakewood and was a member of the Lakewood Blackhawks and Lakewood Elks Lodge#1432.
John is the embodiment of perseverance; after suffering a life changing head injury in 1989, he strived and overcame the challenges he faced with enduring positivity and strength that was an inspiration to all he encountered. John enjoyed time spent with his beloved family and friends.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Rodney Rita Mohr; his loving children, Donna Van Pelt and husband John, Roxie Lynn and husband Eddie, John Paul Mohr and wife Pam, Kristi Marie Steinmetz, Willie Steinmetz and wife Maria, and Joseph Sullivan and wife Jackie; his dear sisters, Judy Vogel and Helen Devos; his 12 cherished grandchildren, and many extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on John's 75th Birthday, Thursday Feb. 6 at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7 at St. Martha's R.C. Church, Point Pleasant.
