John R. Nordham, 85, of Manchester, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at his home. John was born and lived in Waldwick for many years before moving to Manchester in 1987. John was a graduate of West Virginia University, where he had met his wife and best friend, Martha, whom predeceased him in January 2012. He is a U.S. Army veteran, who served his time in the Philippines, a member of the B.P.O. Elks Park Ridge Lodge #2234 & P.E.R. & P.D.D., and a past president of the Leisure Village Kiwanis. John worked as a self-employed civil engineer/general contractor for 33 years, before retiring in 1982. John was an avid traveler, writer and woodworker.
Mr. Nordham was predeceased by his wife, Martha. He is survived by his two sons, Douglas B. and Gretchen Nordham of Los Angeles, CA, and David J. and Ruth Nordham of Newtown, PA; and a daughter and son-in-law, Diane F. and David Messing of Chicago, IL; and his six grandchildren. He is also survived by his two brothers, George W. Nordham of Winter Springs, FL, and Robert Nordham and his wife Jeanette of Bradford, VT.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2013 at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Road, Manchester. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Elks National Foundation, 2750 N. Lakeview Ave., Chicago, IL 60614.
