John "Chick" Waldner, 98, of New Brunswick, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at his residence. A lifelong resident of New Brunswick, he had been employed as a fork lift operator by Personal Products Co., Milltown for over 35 years before retiring. Mr. Waldner was a lifetime member of the Magyar Reformed Church and was a life member of the Hungarian American Athletic Club, New Brunswick. "Chick" was an avid bowler who played for the HAAC and Budweiser Teams in numerous league title tournament games across the country.
Son of the late Michael and Margaret (Kovacs) Waldner, he was also predeceased by his son, John and his brother, Michael. Surviving are his beloved wife, Jennie (Farkas) Waldner; his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph & Carol Waldner of Lancaster, PA; his daughter-in-law, Margaret Waldner; his five grandchildren, Janet & Michael Hamilton, Joseph Waldner, Jeannine & Richard Stryker, Robert & Erinn Waldner, Karen & Robert Williams; and his 11 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16 at the Gowen Funeral Home, 239 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17 in the funeral home, followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service at the Magyar Reformed Church, New Brunswick. Entombment will take place in the Franklin Memorial Park Cemetery, North Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Magyar Reformed Church, 175 Somerset St., New Brunswick NJ 08901 or to the Gentiva Hospice, 242 Old New Brunswick Road, Suite 140, Piscataway, NJ 08854.
