Joseph A. Caracappa, 91 of Monroe Twp. died Friday April 26th at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in New York City, Mr. Caracappa lived in Jamesburg for 37 years before moving to the Rossmoor community in Monroe Twp. in 1989. He was employed for over 30 years by the Henry Heide Candy Co., Manhattan, retiring as a foreman in 1986. Mr. Caracappa was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the European theater.
He is predeceased by his sister Nina Skorstad.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years Palma Cassano, his two daughters Donna Scala and her husband Harry of Allentown, NJ and Pamela Olkowitz and her husband Robert of Brick, NJ, his brother Vincent and his wife Jenny of Monroe Twp., his sister Josephine Ceciliani of Staten Island, his four grandsons Joshua, Jonathan, Robert and Joseph, his brother-in-law Joseph Cassano and his wife Marie, his sister-in-law Jessie Mattia and many nieces and nephews.
Services will begin 8:45 am Thursday May 2nd at the Lester Memorial Home 16 W. Church St., Jamesburg followed by a 9:30 am funeral liturgy at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church, Monroe Twp. Burial will be in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
Visiting hours for family and friends will be Wednesday 3-8 pm and Thursday 7:45-8:45 am at the funeral home.
