Joseph J. Caracappa passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at his home in the Port Reading section of Woodbridge Township. He was 77 years old. Born in New York City, he resided in Brooklyn before moving to Port Reading in 1962. Mr. Caracappa was the owner of JayAnna's, creating ladies apparel for the garment industry. He retired as an elevator operator at Rockefeller Center in New York City in 1997; and was a communicant of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Port Reading.
He was predeceased by his wife, Anna Milonas Caracappa, in 1996; and a brother, Steve Caracappa. Surviving are three daughters, Laura Caracappa of Port Reading, Ann Joe of Colonia and Carol Caracappa of Hillsborough; two sons, Michael Caracappa of Port Reading and Joseph Caracappa of Belle Mead; two sisters, Cathy Pittarelli and Pauline Seidel; a brother, Michael Caracappa; five grandchildren, Anthony Joe, Brianna Nork, Rachel Joe, Brendan Nork and Natalie Nork; and his longtime companion, Joan Calabrese.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. from the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (www.costello-greiner.com), 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Port Reading. Interment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation will be on Friday from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
