Joseph O'Connor, age 73, of Whiting passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2013. Born in Jersey City, he lived in Old Bridge for 37 years before moving to Pine Ridge South of Whiting in 2001. He was employed as a Baker for Sunshine Biscuit in Sayreville for 26 years before his retirement in 1999. Prior to that, he worked at Dean Witter and Company on Wall Street for 14 years. Joe was an avid Sinatra fan and Collector. He was also an avid collector of anything else that anybody collected. Joe was a kind and giving man who always thought of others needs and cares before his own. He loved to shoot pool and play cards with his friends. Joe loved shopping at flea markets.
He was predeceased by his parents, Jerome and Catherine O'Connor; his sisters, Bernardine, Julia and Eleanor as well as by his loving mother-in-law, Mary Agnes DePippa. Surviving is his loving wife of fifty-three years, Lorraine (DePippa) O'Connor; his sons, David O'Connor of Monmouth Junction with Linda Gallagher and Kevin O'Connor and his wife Kathy of Ann Arbor, MI. Also surviving are his brothers, Edward and William; his sisters, Catherine, Margaret and Theresa and his loving brother-in-law, William DePippa. Joe will be greatly missed by his grandson, Kyle of whom he was extremely proud and by his granddaughters, Sydnie, Taylor, Grace and Keira along with his many loving nieces, nephews and many many friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9PM and Thursday from 9:30-10:30AM at "The Family Owned" Carmona-Bolen Home For Funerals, 66 Lacey Road, Whiting, NJ 08759. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday 10:45AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church in Whiting. Disposition will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joseph's name to:
