Joseph P. Babick Sr., 85, of Toms River, NJ, passed away on December 7`h, 2012, at home. Born March 6, 1927, in Jersey City, N.J., he attended Dickinson H.S., graduated Stockton State College, and received a Masters degree in Public Administration at Rider College. Joseph proudly served in the U.S. Army WWII, and was an avid athlete - playing baseball at a semi-pro level. A leader of men, he was a Major in the N.J. State Police, serving 32 years before retiring in 1981, later became Director of Security at the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City, and also taught at Ocean County College. He was a driving force behind local youth activities, Including creation of soccer and basketball leagues, and coaching baseball. But for all of Joseph Babick's accomplishments and public contributions, his love for his children and grandchildren was paramount. He adored his many dogs, and lived for his family.
Mr. Babick is predeceased by his parents lvka "Jennie" and Michael Babick, and his brothers: Mickey and Johnny. He is survived by his loving sons Michael, Joseph and his wife Lisa, Peter and his wife Caroline, Paul and his wife Regina; and seven beloved grandchildren Adrienne, Jennifer, Joseph, Thomas, Sara, Paul, and Samuel.
Visitation will be Tuesday 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral
Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Toms River. Burial at St. Joseph Cemetery will be immediately following.
