AGE: 89 • Lavallette

Malcolm "Mal" Stogdill, 89, of Lavallette, NJ passed away on Tuesday September 10, 2013 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick, NJ. He was born in Malvern, Iowa and lived there for 18 years before moving to Lavallette. He served in the Coast Guard during WWII stationed in Chadwick Beach, NJ and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. He was the Owner and Operator of Liberty Likker in Lavallette, NJ for 30 years. Malcolm was a founding member of Faith Lutheran Church in Lavallette and also served on the church council. He was the oldest member of the Lavallette Fire Department Station #69 serving for 65 years. He was a member of Sunrise Lodge # 288 FA&M, the Lavallette Business Association and also a Republican County Committeeman.

He was predeceased by his daughter Marsha Pounds in 2010. Surviving is his wife of 70 years Madeline "Maddy" (Williams), his son Gary and his wife Helen of Point Pleasant, NJ, his daughter Claire McDougal and her husband Jack of High Point, NC, his brother Wilbert Stogdill of Atlanta,GA, his two sisters Neva Bovill of Nebraska and Velma Jean Boone of Malvern, Iowa, seven grandchildren Michael, Donna, Stephen, Kathy Rae, Douglas, Mark, and Laura, and ten great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends on Friday September 13, 2013 from 2-4pm & 7-9pm at The Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals 145 St. Catherine Blvd, Toms River, NJ. A Funeral Service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, Lavallette, NJ Saturday September 14, 2013 at 10:30am. Committal will be Private. Donations may be made in Malcolm's memory to Lavallette Fire House P.O. Box 267 Lavallette, NJ. Condolences may be sent by visiting
