Margaret Holohan, 92, of Belmar, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Tower Lodge Care Center, Wall. Born in Newark, she lived in Newark until moving to South Belmar in 1958. She worked for the Newark Evening News for approximately 20 years; then as a key punch operator for Allied Signal in Eatontown, until her retirement in 1982. She was a devout parishioner of St. Rose Church, Belmar.
Surviving family members include her brother-in-law, Edward McCandless of Belmar, and 23 loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews from the Holohan, McCandless, DiOrio, McLaughlin, Baldwin and O'Neill families.
Margie was a devoted daughter, sister and aunt who will be lovingly remembered for a life lived with simplicity and dedication to her family, and to her faith.
Special thanks to the staff at Tower Lodge Care Center for their compassionate care, and to Eddie and Lorraine McCandless for their caring and steadfast commitment to Margie.
Visiting will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4 at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35 at New Bedford Road, Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by her nephew, Fr. Kevin Baldwin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5 at St. Rose Church, Belmar. Burial will follow in St. Catharine's Cemetery, Wall.
