Mary A. Morgan, 84, of West Keansburg, a former West Brighton resident, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, in the Care One Nursing Home, Holmdel, where she had been a patient since last week. Born Mary Hutchinson in Carney's Point, Mrs. Morgan was brought to Staten Island as a child, settling in West Brighton. She moved to West Keansburg in 2004. Mrs. Morgan worked for some 25 years as a cook in the luncheonette at the former KMart store on Richmond Avenue, New Springville. She retired 20 years ago. She was a former member of the Todt Hill Friendship Club and enjoyed taking trips to Atlantic City and playing bingo and cards with her friends.
"Mom was a sweet, genuine, giving person, who never had a bad word to say about anyone," said her son, Mark Morgan.
Mrs. Morgan's husband of 53 years, William, died in 2003. She was also predeceased by her youngest son, Steven Morgan. In addition to her son, Mark, she is survived by a son, William, and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday, Nov. 19 from the Scamardella Funeral Home, with a mass at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart R.C. Church, both in West Brighton. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Brighton.
