AGE: 88 • North Brunswick

Mary (Maria) Letizia Previte Marchetta passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. She was 88. Born in San Pier Niceto, Sicily, Italy, she and her father lived in Milano during World War II until she married in 1947 and immigrated to New Brunswick, NJ in 1948. She was a long time resident of New Brunswick before moving to North Brunswick in 1967. A devout Catholic, Mrs. Marchetta was a communicant of Saint Mary of Mount Virgin RC Church in New Brunswick for over 60 years. She was well known in the local Italian community for her loving nature, generous and independent spirit and incredible work ethic. Indicative of her gracious nature, Mary's favorite activities were hosting family and friends to sumptuous meals, returning to her beloved Italy to visit with family and friends, and growing flowers and plants in and around her home.

Mrs. Marchetta was predeceased by her husband of nearly 62 years, Louis in August of 2009; her brother, Peter Previte of North Brunswick in 1982; her sister, Rosa Nuccio of Dello, Italy in 2004 and her son-in-law, Michael Jankoski in 2005. She was also predeceased by her brother-in-law, Francesco Nuccio of Dello; her sister-in-law, Agata Terrizzi and brother-in-law, Joseph Marchetta, both of New Brunswick. She is survived by her five loving children, three sons and daughters-in-law: Anthony L. and Maureen Marchetta of Princeton, Joseph P. and Tracy Marchetta of Haddonfield, and Louis C. Marchetta Jr. and Karen Gettman of Princeton and two daughters, Frances M. Marchetta of West Windsor and Natalie Marchetta-Looman and her husband Charles of Wall Township. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Antoinette Marchetta of New Brunswick and Ann Marie Previte of North Brunswick; 17 grandchildren, one great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be Thursday 10:00 AM from the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset, followed by a 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at Saint Mary of Mount Virgin RC Church in New Brunswick. Entombment will follow at Saint Peter Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
