Nicholas Anthony Campagna, 95, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at his residence in Hillsborough. He was born Oct. 31, 1918 in Bristol, Rhode Island. Nick was raised in South Plainfield and had resided for many years in Middlesex and Bridgewater.
He was a 1938 graduate of Michigan College of Mining and Technology (Michigan Tech. Univ.) with a degree in Chemical Enginering and also received a degree in Business Management and Accounting from Rutgers University in 1962. He was a Licensed Professional Engineer and worked for many years for American Cyanamid, Bound Brook, and then for Woodbridge Township and later for Exxon. Nick had attended Millington Baptist Church, Basking Ridge, and had been a member of B.P.O.E. Lodge 1488 in Dunellen. He was the husband of the late Dorothy E. Lauria Campagna, who died August 2, 2008. His family includes a son, Nicholas A. Campagna, Jr., and his wife, Jerrie of Boxford, MA; a daughter, Susan D. Zeno of Whiting; eight grandchildren, including Danielle Chaballa and her fiance, George of Hillsborough, who in recent years have provided loving care in their home for her grandfather; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at The Mundy Funeral Home, 142 Dunellen Ave., Dunellen, on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday from 2-4 PM. and 7-9 PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the
