Peter Joseph Cirrotti, 71, of Spotswood, died peacefully, on Friday, July 13, 2012 after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in The Bronx, NY, Peter was raised in North Bergen and settled in Spotswood in 2003. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 until 1962. He was a 1992 graduate of Jersey City State College with a Bachelor's Degree in Art Education. He retired from the Elizabeth Board of Education in 2003, where he was a High School Art Teacher. After his retirement from Elizabeth, he continued teaching as a substitute in both Spotswood and East Brunswick. He taught all phases of art from sculpture to painting to ceramics. He was a set designer for the Elizabeth High School plays. Peter was a congregant of St. George's Anglican Church in Helmetta, where served as Sunday School Superintendent, on the Vestry and also the on the Search Committee. He also counseled at the Jamesburg Home for Boys as part of his ministry duties. Peter was deeply devoted to arts: throughout his life, he spent his time drawing, painting and photographing. He was also an avid reader and puppeteer. He was a member of the Spotswood Historical Committee and he was the designer of the Spotswood 9-11 Memorial, which is located on Summerhill Road.

Peter is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Elizabeth; his son Mike; his sister Penny; his niece MaryLou; sisters-in-law, Lynn and April, and; many great-nieces and -nephews, together with many friends who will miss him terribly.

Cremation was private. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 18, from 7:00 to 8:30PM at St. George's Anglican Church, 56 Main Street, Helmetta. Arrangements were entrusted to Spotswood Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations honoring Peter's memory be made to either of the following organizations, both of which were important to Peter: NVader, an organization that rescues individuals who are victims of human trafficking. Contributions may be made out to St. George's Anglican Church, with a comment on the memo line referencing "NVader contribution." Contributions may also be made to the Castle of Dreams Animal Rescue "Trouble Fund," PO Box 739, Keyport, NJ 07735.
