RICHARD E. REPERT
AGE: 74 FORMERLY OF JACKSON
Richard E. Repert, 74, formerly of Jackson, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Cherrydale Health and Rehabilitation Center in Arlington, VA. Mr. Repert was born in Jamesburg, NJ. Mr. Repert graduated from Lafayette College in 1958 and received his Masters in Social Work from St. Louis University in 1960. He was a commissioned officer in the US Army from 1960 to 1965 and later rejoined as a reservist until his retirement in 1985 as a Lieutenant Colonel. Over the course of his career, he served as the Executive Director of Family and Children's Service in both Orange and Long Branch, Director of Protective Services for the Elderly in Monmouth County, VP of Planning and Allocations for United Way in Portland, Oregon and the Executive Director of Salvation Army's White Shield Center. He retired from White Shield Center in 2000 at which time he moved to New Jersey and eventually to Virginia at his daughter's urging. He has spent the last 10 years of his life enjoying the company of his ever growing and loving family.
He is survived by his two sons, David Repert and his wife Theresa of Tinton Falls, Bruce Repert of Portland, OR; a daughter, Johanna Grasso and her husband Robert of Burke, VA; and five grandchildren, Marc, Cassie, Brendan, Trent and Kayleen; and his ex-wife, Kay Repert.
A private memorial service is planned for Friday, May 21, 2010 at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home in Fairfax, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations made in his honor to the United Way of the Columbia-Williamette or The Salvation's Army White Shield Center, both located in Portland, Oregon.
