Richard J. Morris, 68, of the Morgan section of Sayreville passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013 while at home. Born in Carteret, NJ, Richard moved to Sayreville 30 years ago.
Son of the late Michael Morris, he was also predeceased by his brother, Michael (Mickey) R. Morris. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (DeBiase) Morris; his son, Richard M. Morris and his stepdaughter, Summer Ann Levine all of Morgan. Also surviving are his mother, Eleanor Morris of Port Reading; a sister, Barbara Krissak and her husband James of Port Reading; a nephew, Gregory Krissak and his wife, Diane of Colonia; and a niece, Michelle Rivers and her husband, James of Barnegat.
Before retiring Richard worked for the CDI Group in Linden, NJ where he was a cabinet maker, a wood worker and a refined carpenter where his talents were in constructing exhibits for shows. Rich was an avid fisherman and a boat enthusiast, who spent many hours on his boat. He was noted for his cooking and especially for his cookies that were enjoyed by everyone at holiday times. He loved to listen to country music and was often seen with his friend and pet cat, Midnight, at his side.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, February 8, 2013 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Gowen Funeral Home, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ. Cremation will be private. Donations can be made to JFK Haven Hospice, 65 James St, Edison, NJ.
