Ruth Reiss Pratte

AGE: 97 • formerly of Plainfield

Ruth Reiss Pratte died Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at her home in Windsor Park Manor, Carol Stream, Illinois. She was 97 years old. Born in St. Louis, Missouri on June 13, 1913, to Joseph A. Reiss and Katherine Overberg Reiss, she attended Rosati-Kain High School and Rubicam Business College before working for 12 years as a secretary at Ely & Walker and Monsanto. Married to J. Frank Pratte in 1945, she and her family lived in St. Louis and the Chicago area before moving to Plainfield, New Jersey in 1956, her home for 51 years. She contributed much, being actively involved in the Laurel League, the Muhlenberg Auxiliary, the Villa Maria Auxiliary, and the Girl Scouts as a talented troop leader and cookie chairman. She still was volunteering at the Nearly New Shop, when, at 94, she returned to Illinois to live near her daughter. Bridge and golf added to her enjoyment of life. Ruth's graciousness and sense of style will be remembered by her son, Frank Pratte and his wife Maryann of Longmont, Colorado; her daughter, Kathy Pratte Lintault and her husband Roger of McMinnville, Oregon; her daughter, Karen Pratte Kiernan and her husband Michael of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; her grandchildren, Thomas Pratte, Kevin Pratte, Erin Lovely, Michael Pratte, Sarah Reisert, Sarah Dailey Howell, Ken Dailey, and Eric Dailey; and ten great-grandchildren. Her parents, her husband, and her sister Lucille Koopman preceded her in death.

Visitation will be held at St. Bernard's Church, Plainfield, on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. and interment at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
