AGE: 87 • Manchester

Samuel S. Sodano Jr. 87 of Leisure Village West, Manchester died Thursday, December 26, at home. He was employed for 30 years as Shipping Manager for the Greene Uniform Company, Hackensack before retiring in 1992. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a Life Member of the VFW, and belonged to the Knights of Columbus, Council #9134, the Bocce and Italian-American Clubs all of Leisure Village West. He was a parishioner of St. John's Church, Lakehurst. Born in Cliffside Park, he lived in Fairview and in Guttenberg for 30 years before moving to Manchester 20 years ago. He is predeceased by his wife, Gloria, who died in 2008, and by his daughter, Nancy Sodano, who died in 2005. Surviving is his son and daughter in law, Sam A. and Mona Sodano of Newburgh, NY, a sister, Theresa Triggiano of Fairview, 4 grandchildren, David Lyons, Susan Sodano, Jennifer Reasoner, and Michael DeChristofano, and 7 great-grandchildren, Alexandra Reasoner, Ava Lyons, Julia Reasoner, James and Thomas DeChristofano, and twins, Chloe and Jake Lyons. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-5 pm at the Oliverie Funeral Home, 2925 Ridgeway Road, Manchester. Funeral Liturgy will be Monday at 10:00 am at St. John's Church, Lakehurst with burial to follow at St Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood.
