Stefano "Stephen" Martorana

AGE: 88 • Jackson Twp.

Stefano "Stephen" Martorana, 88, of Jackson Twp., NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 4, 2012. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was raised and lived in Lodi before moving to Jackson in 1979. Stephen worked alongside big parents and siblings at the family bakery for many years. He owned Summit Auto Wreckers in Hackensack before obtaining his plumbing license and owning his business, Garden State Sewer Installers in Jackson, where he worked until his retirement. He was a former communicant of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Lodi. He was a member of the NJ Masters Plumbers Association and also the St. Joseph Society in Garfield, NJ. Steve, forever the devoted and loving family man and friend, will be dearly missed.

He was predeceased by his Parents, Alberto and Giuseppina Martorana; his Wife, Rose (Fiorenzo); his Son and Daughter-in-law, John and Florence Karakaris; his Grandson, James Karakaris; and his Brother, Sal Martorano. He is survived by his two Daughters and Sons-in-law, Josephine and Tom Sharac and Catherine Martorana and Joseph Orlando, all of Jackson; his Son and Daughter-in-law, William and Patricia Karakaris of New Port Richey, FL; his Brother, Matt Martorano; his Sister, Angie Cimiluca; his 9 Grandchildren, Stephen Sharac, Brennan Orlando, Stephanie-Rose Orlando, John Karakaris, Roseanne Burger, Donna White, Jennifer Karakaris, Christine Karakaris and Heather Gagnon; his 20 Great-grandchildren; 5 Great-great-grandchildren with 2 on the way; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Monday, May 7, 2012, at THE GEORGE S. HASSLER FUNERAL HOME, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson, NJ 08527 (732)364-6808. His Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 40 Spring St., Lodi, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Passaic Ave., Lodi, NJ. In tribute to his desire to give to others and his love of animals, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Stephen's memory to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 1347 Perrineville Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, or the Popcorn Park Zoo, P.O.
