Stella Bukowski, 95, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 9 at Roosevelt Care Center in Edison. Stella was born in Carteret on October 27, 1917. Over her lifetime, she resided in Carteret, Perth Amboy and then in Sewaren for over 60 years. She was a member of Blessed John Paul II Parish / St Stephen's Church in Perth Amboy and a member of the United Garment Workers Union.

Stella was a busy, enthusiastic woman her entire life. As a young girl, she left school at age13 and worked to help provide for her family. She became an excellent seamstress and in addition to working at a Perth Amboy dress factory, she designed and made gowns, dresses and other clothing for family, friends and special clients. She had many hobbies and interests including gardening, cooking, arts & crafts, knitting & crocheting, going on cruises, and traveling with her husband all over the United States to explore and to visit family and friends. She loved quilting and was thrilled to give the quilts she made to people in need in hospitals and as far away as Africa.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 69 years, Sigmund Bukowski; a son, Richard Bukowski; and a sister, Mary Schur. Surviving is her son Joseph Bukowski of East Brunswick; daughter Maryann DeMarco of Silver Spring, Maryland; 7 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Monday, July 15 from 2-4PM at the Zylka Funeral Home 513-515 State St. Perth Amboy NJ. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, July 16 beginning at 9:45AM at the Funeral Home, followed by a 10AM mass in St Stephen's Church, Perth Amboy. Burial will be in St. Gertrude's Cemetery in Colonia. In lieu of flowers, you may choose to send a donation in Stella's name to the (cancer.org).
