Victor H. Marine, age 91, of Ship Bottom, died Sunday, February 10th, 2013 at the Van Dyke Hospice at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Victor was born in Paterson, NJ, the son of Victor Marine and Marie Miller. He resided in Woodridge, NJ where he married Doris F. Knissel. In 1956 the couple moved to Ship Bottom, NJ where Victor continued to live until his death.

Victor was a veteran of WWII and served on special assignment in Washington, DC. Victor was an avid motorcycle rider, hunter and civil war historian. He participated as a Civil War reinactor in the 100th year anniversary of the battles of First Manassas and Gettysburg. His love of history led him to open a retail store known as Vic's - The Ship's Graveyard in Ship Bottom where he traded in nautical furniture, antiques and historical collectibles for over twenty years. Victor was one of the founding members of The Jersey Shore Antique Arms Collectors and was a faithful member of Calvary Chapel Church in West Creek, NJ.
Victor was predeceased by his wife, Doris Marine, in 1991. He is survived by his sister, Lorraine Connors of Surf City, NJ. He is also survived by his son, Neal V. Marine, and two grandchildren, Rachel and Evan Marine of Forked River, NJ.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Layton's Funeral Home, 250 West Lacey Road, Forked River, NJ. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1PM to 2PM preceding the memorial service. A remembrance luncheon will be held for family and friends following the memorial service at the Captain's Inn, East Lacey Road, Forked River. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
