Violet Veronica Hardy Mayernik

Mrs. Violet Veronica Hardy Mayernik, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Homewood at Crumland Farms, Frederick, MD where she had resided since 2000. Born in New Brunswick, NJ on May 6, 1915 she lived here until moving to Frederick, MD. Mrs. Mayernik was a graduate of the St. Ladislaus Elementary School and St. Peter's High School. Her career included working as a bookkeeper at the family business, Hardy Tobacco, and at the New Brunswick City Hall. Blessed with a lovely singing voice, Mrs. Mayernik had been featured for many years on the "Hungarian Hour" on Radio Station WCTC with the Kara Nemeth Brothers Orchestra. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Ladislaus RC Church and also attended daily masses at St. Peter the Apostle RC Church. Since moving to Frederick, MD, she has faithfully attended St. Katharine Drexel RC Church. Her family and friends will always remember her for her charming smile, cheerful manner and sense of style.
Daughter of the late Geza and Verona (Kovacs) Hardy, she was also predeceased by her beloved husband, Dr. John Joseph Mayernik in 1997; her brother and sister-in-law, Charles & Mary Hardy; and her sister and brother-in-law, Grace & Basil Medvecky. Surviving her are her son and his wife, Dr. Robert Hardy and Patricia Anne Mayernik of Frederick, MD; her brothers and their spouses, Dr. Geza Robert & Patricia Hardy; Edward & Joy Hardy; her grandchildren and their spouses, Elizabeth Catherine & Robert Smith; John Robert Mayernik; her great grandson: Sky Christian Mayernik, six nieces, three nephews and their families.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 25th at 10:30am in the Gowen Funeral Home, 239 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick followed by an 11am Funeral Liturgy at St. Ladislaus RC Church. The interment will take place in the St. Peters Cemetery, New Brunswick. Relatives and friends may call at the Funeral Home on Monday from 9:30am until the service time. A Memorial Mass will be held on August 22 at the Homewood Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to either St. Katharine Drexel Church Building Fund, 8428 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702 or to Homewood at Crumland Farms, 7407 Willow Road, Frederick, MD. 21702.
