I met Arnold at a BIC convention, I was young and had no idea what the heck I was doing when he took me under his wing. I have never felt so safe and he alway reassured me that I could do what ever I wanted. He was my go to person when I became the Secretary for the Newark branch of the NAACP, He talked to me when i was leaving a destructive relationship; he reminded me that God was with me and that i would pull thru. He was my good friends when I had a health scare.....He made me laugh. I only heard today that he was taken, had moved on to a greater place... I was so shaken that I took off the rest of the day from work. It was around my birthday he had rented a beach house for his family but would be there to use all the days and offered me and some friends to come down to relax....I really wish I would have. I feel so sad for his families loss....especially his grand baby.....She will never get to feel the full coverage of the love he had for her. I'm glad they got to meet......I will drink a glass of wine for my friend, I will try not to be too sad he wouldn't want that.......so, unitl we meet again.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Dear Hamm family, I knew your father becuase of work we both did with "Soul Brothers Productions Co." He has always been a great encouraging spirit to me. I routinely would bump into him in the NY / NJ airports and he would run me down to give me a huge bear hug. He was a warm and caring man, who loved people. Heaven rejoices at his arrival and I pray God's peace and grace for each of you.

Dear Kate Ellen and family, Your father was a very special man. He blessed many near and far. As my Godfather, he has guided me through the years even beyond the passing of both of my parents. I thank God for giving him to us to share his wonderful outlook on life and he will be forever missed. Many blessings to you, little Vicotria, to your grandparents and extended family. He has gone home to be with his Saviour, who we all know he loved. RIP Godfather, your legacy will live forever.

To the Hamm and Mitchell families:
Arnold was a giant! He had a bold personality, and his presence was commanding! He had the sharpest mind of anyone I've ever known, and he possessed a multitude of talent. He loved the beautiful things in life, but most importantly he loved GOD.
Arnold became a member of my family when my dad passed in 2006. He guided me through this difficult period, and he remained steadfast until his passing.
I was so devestated to learn of his departure because I had just spoken to Arnold @6:15 am on the day of his transition. I knew he was ill, but he told me he was feeling better. He asked me to check on him later on in the day, and when I called a little after 12 noon, he was gone.
I can only say that this man was "incredibly special," and he meant the world to me. He loved and adored his family, and he was passionate about life! I could share endless stories, but I'd rather just reflect on his wonderful smile, his sense of humor, and selfless acts of kindness.
Arnold will never be forgotten, and his legacy lives on. May GOD bless this precious man forever.

To the Family,
Thank you for sharing Arnold with all of us. K, your father was a wonderful man who cared about all those he met. Just thinking of our last conversation, always able to laugh and learn something new whenever we had a chance to talk. I will miss him, but each day I thank God for allowing me to meet such a wonderful 'giant". RIP, we will meet, again.

I will look for him on the other side. Much Love to our extended Family. 732-422-2171

To the Hamm and Mitchell Family: Nehemiah 8:1 "And all the people gathered themselves together as one man before the water gate". This was the way Arnold could gather and unite the people. I was a classmate as well as a friend of Arnold and we recently became reacquainted because he was mobilizing all of us for our 40th year high school reunion. We spoke of God and old times. He was always a giant and as I called him "Mr Plainfield"; he will be deeply missed at our reunion.
A friend always

President Obama once said that "focusing your life solely on making a buck shows a certain poverty of ambition. It asks too little of yourself. Because it's only when you hitch your wagon to something larger than yourself that you realize your true potential." Arnold Hamm was truly a man who believed in being a part of something bigger than himself. A man who was devoted to helping others. I knew Arnold professionally but was recently surprised to find out that he and my grandfather Archie were first cousins. He will be deeply missed and our heartfelt sympathies are with his family and friends. Please accept our sincere condolences from Brian, Monique & Sekou Viehland, Donna King-Butler, Archie Dildy and Herbert Priester.

To the Family of Arnold K. Hamm,
I met Arnold Hamm many years ago. His tall stature, articulate speaking voice, and embracing smile will always be remembered. Arnold worked closely with my uncle, the late Donald K. Tucker, at NJBIC (New Jersey Black Issues Convention) We would see each other every year. I just saw him this past October. We embraced and said "it's good to see you". Now, I'm sure, he is organizing with Uncle Donald in glory! R.I.P. Arnold, I'll see you, Rick Taylor, and uncle Donald on the other side! I will continue to keep the family lifted in prayer. Earth has no sorrow heaven cannot heal. God Bless.

May God bring you comfort and strength in this time of grief. I was a classmate of Arnold's in Plainfield and will always cherish those memories of kindness and his always bright look on life. He was a ray of sunshine that would brighten any room. We had just seen him at the PHS 69 reunion and could not miss that infectious smile of his, that huge bear hug that he would give you, I will cherish and remember. I know that God has gotten a special angel to continue to oversee things down here. We will miss him, and keep him and his family in our prayers and thoughts always.

On behalf of the Davis family, I wish to express our sincere regrets on the untimely passing of Arnold Hamm.
I have known Arnold since high school. Even then he was enthusiastic and active in school and community organizations. Arnold channeled that positive energy into a lifelong passion of helping others and improving social conditions. He was an exemplary beacon of integrity and representative of the best Plainfield can offer.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family of Arnold. He was a wonderful man, a devoted father, son, brother and friend. To his daughter, Kate-Ellyn, stay strong, your father was a giant of a man. He was a loving, kind and generous father and grandfather to you and Victoria. To Mrs. Lois and Mr. Avery, Arnold was more than a son but he was also your best friend. He adored and always honored his mother. You can always tell the quality of a man by the way he treats his mother and children. Arnold was a quality man and he took manhood to another level. He was devoted to his family on every level.
As a friend, he was a devoted and kind friend. He was a great listener and giver of wise advice. Arnold would pray with you, cry with you, laugh with you and tell you the truth the next moment. He was not the one, who would bite his tongue. His laughter was loud and echo throughout the room. He had a great mind and was politically savvy. He knew everyone. I was blessed to have known him in this lifetime. There is nothing that will ever be written that would do justice to a great man, such as Arnold. One had to experience the life of Arnold Keith Hamm to appreciate him, his life and the people that he touched.
