PHILIP SHAWN COX
AGE: 43 PLAINFIELD
Philip Shawn Cox (Beef), 43, of Plainfield died on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at JFK Medical Center, Edison. He was born and was a lifelong resident of Plainfield. He was employed by Pepsi/PBG in Piscataway for 25 years. He also worked for Rutgers University for 29 years in the dining services as a concession manager. He was a T-ball Commissioner of Queen City Baseball League and other baseball leagues in the city for over 15 years. He was a lifelong member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and on the vestry.
He is survived by his wife, Tracey L. Cox; sons, Jelani Cox, Jabari Jeter, and Kadir Cox and a daughter, Mecca Michelle; His siblings, Jacqueline Cox (Barry Strother), Timothy Cox (Crystal), Martin Cox (Stephanie), Brian Cox (Sharon) and Robert Cox of Plainfield, NJ; His mother-in-law, Ruby Patillo of Piscataway, NJ and father-in-law, Ronald Patillo of Plainfield, N.J; a sister-in-law, Sheba (Eric) Bridges of Fayetteville, NC; a sister-in-law, Dorianne Taylor-Cox; uncle, Fitz Cox and aunt, Elsie Cox and a host of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Cecil Warren Cox, Sr. and Veronica Cox and his brother, Cecil Warren Cox, Jr.
Visitation Friday, June 18, 2010 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church 1430 Park Ave., Plainfield 12 Noon to 9 pm and Saturday, June 19, 8 - 9:30 am. Funeral service will be Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 9:30 am at St. Mark's Episcopal Church with internment to follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family. Arrangements by Judkins Colonial Home. Condolences my be sent to www.judkinscolonialhome.com

I met Shawn in 1998 when I worked at the Ford Plant in Edison when he delivered product to me. I worked with him for about the last 5 years doing resets in convenience stores. I will miss him and am have been very lucky to have known him.

Dear Cox family,

To all of Shawn's family and friends I offer my most sincere condolences. I got to know Shawn in 05 when my son was playing Tee Ball in Plainfield. I stopped by Shawn's house one day to pick up a jersey and a hat, and the next thing you know I am coaching a team for him. He was such a confident and commited man, how could I tell him no. His spirit, his energy, his infectious smile, just a good good man and he will be sorely missed. I know over the days months and years that follow you will be bombarded with tales of how wonderful a man Shawn was and how full a life he lived, I hope that I may be blessed to serve so many as well as he has. I don't pretend to know God's plan, but his way is perfect and he will lead you all through this new chapter. My family and I will keep you in our prayers.
