CHARLES "CHUCK" EDWIN LEFEVER
AGE: 85 RED BANK
Charles "Chuck" Edwin LeFever, 85, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2010 at Riverview Medical Center. He was born and raised on a farm in Climax, OH. Chuck first worked as a fireman on the Erie RR which he continued through his college years. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He served in the North Atlantic on the USS Firm and in the South Pacific on the USS Prometheus. Afterward, he graduated from Ohio State University where he received a BA in International Relations. Chuck then served as a CIA analyst and later joined RH Macy, where he became Corporate VP of Employee Relations. Chuck lived in Plainfield, NJ for 30 years where he was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and served on the Vestry and as a Warden several times. He was also a volunteer and Board President of Neighborhood House, President of the Board of Education and Councilman at Large for the city. At Macys, he also served as an advisor on CUE, Inc. an organization for positive employee relations. After moving to Locust and later Red Bank, he became a member of All Saint's Memorial Church in Navesink and served as an usher. He was a member of S.C.O.R.E. (Service Corps of Retired Executives) and served as President of Chapter 36 for 2 years. He served as the Chairman of the Middletown Library Foundation during its reconstruction. He volunteered in library book repair for many years. He and his wife were also long time volunteers with Meals on Wheels.
He was predeceased by his parents, John Edward and Edna Gillen LeFever. He is survived by his wife, Ann Adams LeFever; his sister, Maxine Marie Greer of Charleston, SC and his former wife, Caryl Peters LeFever of Williamsburg, VA. He is also survived by his son, John Gillen LeFever and his wife Cynthia of Red Bank; daughters, Signe Jeanne LeFever and her husband Timothy Galvin of Richmond, VA and Sarah LeFever Gabrielson and her husband Eric of Midlothian, VA. He was very proud of his seven grandchildren, Kyle Evan LeFever and his wife Amanda, Christopher Edwin LeFever, Ryan Gillen LeFever, Meagan Grace LeFever, Lydia Claire Galvin, Samuel Jacob Gabrielson and Maja Avery Gabrielson.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 25 at 10 AM at All Saint's Memorial Episcopal Church (732-291-0214) 202 Navesink Ave. in Navesink, NJ. Interment is private. All arrangements are under the care of John E. Day Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Doctors Without Borders or American Cancer Society.
