Joseph Thomas Gondek, Sr.

AGE: 70 • Sayreville

Joseph Thomas Gondek, Sr., 70, of Sayreville passed on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital New Brunswick, surrounded by his loving family. Born in South River, he resided in Sayreville for the past 47 years. He was employed by Merck and Company in Rahway for 32 years before retiring in 1995. Joe owned and operated Confectionately Yours in Franklin Park for the past 32 years. He enjoyed his customers as much as his family. Joe was the "Candy Man," "the sweetest guy in town," he loved telling jokes and was an avid fisherman, hunter and loved to travel.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary C. Gondek; their children, Stacey Gondek, Joseph T. and Amy Gondek, Jr., Carey and John Cossentino, Janeen Gondek, Jessica Gondek, Quinn J. Gondek; 3 grandchildren, Megan, Joseph T., III and Mackenzie Gondek.

The Funeral Service will be held 11:00 am, on Monday, January 27, 2014, at the Six Mile Run Reformed Church, 3037 State Route 27, Franklin Park. Burial will be private. Friends may call on Sunday, January 26, 2014 from 1-5 pm at the M.J. Murphy Funeral Home, 616 Ridge Road at New Road, Monmouth Junction. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to : The Hugs for Brady Foundation, 4 Quentin Road, Kendall Park, NJ 08824.
