George W. Crawford

AGE: 92 • Edgewater Park

George W. Crawford, 92, of Edgewater Park, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at his home. Mr. Crawford was born in Matawan to the late George H. and the late Bertha Mae Stuart Crawford and had previously lived in Keyport, Freehold and Fords for forty nine years before moving to Edgewater Park twelve years ago. Mr. Crawford was a US Army Veteran of World War II. He was employed as a chemical operator with Mobil Chemical in Edison for eleven years before retiring in 1985. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace RC Church, Fords, the Fords VFW Post 6090, serving seven years as Chaplin and four years as Commander, American Legion Post 471, Iselin, Captain of St. John's First Aid Squad in 1962, Fords, Woodbridge Township Police Reserves 1955 and 1956.

Mr. Crawford was predeceased by his wife LaVerne in 1995, one brother and two sisters.

He is survived by his son George Crawford of Hopelawn, three daughters Carol Ann Nistico and Paul Maudilian of Edgewater Park, Patricia Szewczuk and her husband John of Port St. Lucy, FL, LaVerne B. Torres and her husband Vito of Alburn, WA, son in law Anthony Nistico of Mt. Holly, his one sister Myrtle Pierazzio of Hocksset , NH, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 10:00 am at the Mitruska Funeral Home, Inc., 531 New Brunswick Ave., Fords. Followed by a 10:30 am mass in the Our Lady of Peace Church, Fords. Interment will follow in the St. Gertrude's Cemetery in Colonia. Visitation hours will be held Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
